BRAISED SAUSAGES WITH ONION & GRAVY MASH

INGREDIENTS

Serves 4

  • 8 pork sausages (if you don’t like pork sausages you can replace with any other flavoured sausage you like)

  • 1 brown onion, peeled and sliced 

  • 2 cloves garlic

  • Pinch pepper 

  • Sea salt 

  • 3 tablespoon Gravox 

  • 4 large potatoes, rinsed and peeled and cut in small cubes 

  • 70g butter 

  • 70ml cream

METHOD

  • Boil potatoes in salted water for 10-12 mins or when a knife inserted in the middle of the potato goes in easily with no resistance. Drain the potatoes making sure there is no residual water. 

  • Using a potato masher, mash the potatoes to a smooth consistency. Season with salt and pepper and add the cream and butter making sure it's mixed through the potato. Set aside 

  • To cook the sausages place a pan over high heat, cook the sausages for 8-12 minutes or until cooked through. Continue turning over throughout and set aside

  • Mix 3 tablespoon of the Gravox mix with 500ml water, making sure evenly mix with no lumps

  • In another pan caramelize onion medium heat for 1-2 mins then add garlic

  • Return the sausages to the pan and add the Gravox mix and simmer for 2-3 mins or until the gravy thickens

  • Serve the sausages and onion gravy over mash potatoes
